About Us : Environment

We care about the environment, and we do all we can to minimise the environmental impacts associated with every aspect of our business. As a result, there are several areas of our business that we pay particular attention to:

• Purchasing equipment and supplies (primarily computer and office)
• Waste disposal, e.g. Computers, paper, etc
• Electricity, gas and water usage
• Travel

We aim to minimise our environmental impact by adopting four principles of sustainable waste management: reduce, reuse, recycle and recover.

• Reduce: We can reduce our impact on the environment by choosing energy efficient equipment, bulk purchasing to reduce packaging, avoid unnecessary transportation, etc.
• Reuse: As we purchase new computers, we do not, as a matter of course, throw away older equipment but ensure we utilise them to provide useful services that may not require new equipment by splitting services across different machines. We can also reuse waste paper for notes, etc.
• Recycle: When we do have to dispose of waste, we ensure that all recyclable material is sent to the appropriate recycling facility.
• Recover: When waste is disposed of, it may still contain a certain amount of energy. This energy can be recovered and put to good use, for example, electricity generation, heat recovery, etc.

As part of applying these principles, we aim to produce elegant and efficient solutions to our clients' problems. Our efficiency drive applies to the complete lifecycle of a project, including development, ongoing maintenance, running costs, server load and bandwidth usage.

Even taking all these factors into account, we cannot eliminate our use of natural resources, and as a result we will always have a carbon footprint. We do our best to account for our CO2 emissions, estimating and adding up emissions as a result of our business activities. We will then offset these emissions by helping to fund projects around the world that reduce global carbon emissions.
